Bible Study of Genesis
June 17, 2021 (Thursday)
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Without Genesis, the rest of the Bible is incomprehensible. Unveiling no less than the creation of the world and everything in it, including human life, as well as the birth of sin and the promise of a Savior, Genesis is packed with fascinating images and layered theological insights that require careful study.
In this powerful 28-session study from Catholic Scripture Study International, author Steve Ray augmented by self-study videos by Fr. Kauth will help you uncover what you need to know about this crucial first book of the Bible, including:
- The theological significance of covenants: what they meant for the ancient Jews, and what they mean for us today
- What the Binding of Isaac actually signifies and what Noah’s ark represents
- How to have a personal relationship with the “God of your fathers” (Exodus 3:15)
Genesis is the first key to unlocking the chest that enables us to understand the Bible as the Universal Church always has. To find the priceless gems inside, we need a good roadmap to learn how the 50 chapters fit together and fit with the rest of the entire Bible.
Deacon Larry will break the study into three time groups of 9 or 10 consecutive sessions with breaks in between. The first time period is from May 6th through July 1; the second from August 5 through October 7, and the third from November 4 through January 27 (with Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks).
Each session will be conducted using Zoom. Participants will need a study guide (approximately $45 and available from Deacon Larry) and will be given information on how to stream the videos without extra charge. Participants will prepare each lesson ahead of time and the sessions will concentrate on group discussion, questions and answers, and on connection of the Book of Genesis to the Catholic Catechisms.
Deacon Larry Brockman has been conducting such studies for over 10 years, including 3 recent studies using the Zoom format. Come join us for one or all of the three time periods.
