Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLoW) introduces children to both the structure of liturgical worship and the experience of worship so they grow in the understanding and love of God. The Scripture readings are presented to the children at an age-appropriate level, along with an interactive homily.
When the Presider calls the children forward, children in grades K-3 are welcome to join and will be brought back during the offertory to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist. CLoW takes place during the 8:45 a.m. Mass every Sunday during the school year.
Those wishing to become involved in this joyful ministry must have a love for children and a strong desire to help them understand the readings and teachings of the Catholic Faith. Leaders of the CLoW Ministry will train volunteers until they are comfortable leading or assisting. The teachings for any week can be found online with easy-to-follow directions. Two people work together with one person giving the reflection on the Gospel and the other organizing and helping the children as needed. Individual instructors or couples are welcome to become involved in bringing the word to our children. Volunteers age 15 and above must fulfill diocesan requirements for serving youth.
