Exodus Bible Study

Join Deacon Larry Brockman for study of the Book of Exodus

on Thursday Evenings starting February 17–Online

at 7 PM

Join Deacon Larry Brockman for a 28 week Bible Study of the Book of Exodus. The meetings will be on Thursday Evenings at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM starting February 17 using the Zoom application.  We will take several breaks during the year since the study is 28 sessions in length. The study will use the Catholic Scripture Study International study guide ($47), described below:

Exodus is a gripping 1,200+ verse narrative, and one of the most famous stories ever told. Many of us have heard it since we were little children, but how often have we taken the time to study its chapters as the Church, our guiding light, understands them?

The study book contains Commentary by Scott Hahn and Mark Shea and is supplemented by Video Presentations by Fr. Patrick Winslow accessible on-line.  It also features Catechism references that shed light on the Bible text and the Church’s interpretation of them.  Each lesson has a series of 8 questions for study and discovery.  The commentary, film, and questions are the core of our Bible Study approach, which is mostly interactive discussion. You will quickly discover a powerful tale of redemption and revelation that unquestionably earns its reputation.

In 28 revealing lessons, you will learn:

  • What sacrament the Crossing of the Red Sea prefigures
  • Why we shouldn’t be afraid to study the Old Testament
  • How God responds to us when we try to run ahead of him

In the Christian life, everyone is a pilgrim. What God told Moses thousands of years ago still applies to us today: God will fit us for our tasks. He will never ask us to do anything beyond our strength.

Learn how the Israelites mirror our own struggles to accept this, and draw courage from God’s infinite faithfulness to all his children.
